More Than a Physical ID

The TRIDENT ID Card combines a trusted physical identity document with secure electronic capabilities for modern Government services.

Built in accordance with ICAO Doc 9303 specifications, the card supports reliable identity checks and can also serve as a travel document where Barbados establishes recognition arrangements with other countries.

Its secure chip allows authorised organisations to use verified identity data in controlled digital processes, adding an electronic confirmation alongside the security features that are checked visually today.

Designed for Citizens

The chip holds identity information and the security features that let an authorised service confirm the card is genuine. It is not a payment card. It holds no bank account or card details and is not connected to any account the citizen holds with a bank or any other organisation.

The card's electronic functions are protected by a personal code, or PIN, used only with the TRIDENT ID Card. The combination is what protects the citizen: something they have, together with something only they know. If the card is lost or stolen, its protected functions cannot be used by whoever finds it.

Citizens can use the card at supported service locations, with a compatible reader, or to register for participating online services.

Ready for Services

Government entities and participating organisations can integrate the TRIDENT ID Card through the card middleware. Supported systems can read verified data from the card, subject to appropriate controls, and use it in in-person identity checks, assisted service journeys, enrolment, account registration and other approved processes.
