Identity Verification: Establishing Who You Are

A trusted interaction begins with confidence in identity. TRIDENT Identity Verification supports secure identity proofing using approved combinations of identity information, authoritative data and biometric checks. Depending on the service and the required level of assurance, verification can support in-person, assisted or remote journeys.

For citizens, this can make it possible to prove identity securely without repeating a completely separate verification process for every participating service. For organisations, it provides a reusable national capability for onboarding, account activation, eligibility processes, credential issuance and other interactions where identity needs to be established with confidence.

Secure Authentication: Using Your Identity Safely

Once identity has been established, Secure Authentication helps confirm that the right person is accessing a service or approving an action. Citizens can use their TRIDENT ID Account and, where enabled, their Mobile Authenticator to access participating services. Stronger confirmation can be requested when an interaction carries greater risk, while routine access can remain simpler. This gives Government entities and participating organisations a common authentication capability that can be integrated into their own services instead of creating an entirely separate identity mechanism for each application.

Trusted Approvals and Electronic Signing

Some interactions require more than simply signing in. A citizen may need to confirm an important request, approve a transaction or electronically sign a document.

TRIDENT supports trusted transaction approval and electronic signing capabilities that connect the action to the citizen’s verified identity and apply the appropriate security controls before it is completed. For citizens, this creates opportunities to complete more processes remotely without printing documents or visiting an office simply to sign. For service providers, electronic signing can be incorporated into forms, approvals, applications and other workflows where a trusted signature is required.

Verified Information When It Is Needed

Digital services often require information that has already been verified by an authoritative source. TRIDENT’s Verified Data capabilities provide controlled mechanisms through which authorised services can request approved identity information for a defined purpose. Access is governed through security policies and permissions, while the institution responsible for the authoritative information remains responsible for that source. This can help reduce repetitive data entry and document submission. A participating service may, for example, use approved verified information to pre-populate part of an application or confirm a specific eligibility condition.

The objective is not to make more information available. It is to make the right verified information available securely for the right authorised purpose.

Digital Credentials: Proving What Matters

The TRIDENT ID Wallet extends trusted identity into digital credentials.

Citizens can receive and present approved credentials online or, where supported, in person. A credential may represent foundational identity information or a specific fact such as age, address, status, qualification or another Government-approved attribute. This creates an important new model for service delivery. Instead of always presenting a full document, citizens can use trusted digital evidence appropriate to the interaction. Other authorised Government entities can also use TRIDENT Shared Services to support credentials within their own mandates, allowing the national ecosystem to grow progressively as new use cases are defined.

One Foundation, Many Services

The real value of Trusted Digital Services appears when these capabilities work together.

A citizen could access a participating Government service using their TRIDENT ID, provide approved verified information, complete the details specific to the request and securely approve or sign the final submission. Another service may need only authentication. A bank may use identity verification during an approved onboarding journey. An agency may verify a credential. A Government programme may combine several TRIDENT capabilities within one digital process.

TRIDENT does not prescribe one service journey. It provides trusted building blocks that organisations can reuse to create the journey appropriate to their users and responsibilities.

For citizens, this means more ways to use a trusted identity with less repetition and greater convenience. For Government, it means reusable national capabilities that can support the progressive modernisation and connection of services without requiring existing systems to be replaced. For authorised organisations, it creates a trusted foundation for new digital services, onboarding, verification, secure access and customer interactions.
