Identity Verification establishes confidence that a person is who they claim to be, before access to services, accounts or digital credentials is granted.

TRIDENT supports secure in-person and remote identity journeys, combining identity information, biometric verification and checks against authoritative records. Each check answers a different question, and together they produce a result that a single one could not.

The framework is anchored in the records and policies established by Barbados' responsible identity authorities.

Designed for Citizens

TRIDENT makes identity checks simpler, safer and more consistent. For example, a citizen holding a TRIDENT ID Card can use it as part of a remote request to activate their digital identity, supported by biometric verification and checks against the National Register.

Facial verification compares the person completing the process with the photograph already held on record, so nothing new is gathered about their appearance.

Ready for Services

Government entities and participating organisations can integrate Identity Verification into onboarding, account activation, eligibility checks, credential issuance and other trusted processes.

Assurance requirements are adapted to the risk, policy and purpose of each service, so a routine process and a high-value one need not apply the same level of checking.
